I saw a lot of people smiling together about 5 years ago. I was at the football ground in Manchester and it was the last day of theseason. I was with about 30 of my friends. We had travelled over 250 miles towatch the last game of the season. We went to every game, but this was the most important one. If we won the game we would be champions. However, only 3 minutes to go to the end of the game we were losing 2-1 and people were sad, upset, angry and disappointed. Young children were crying because we werelosing. I saw grown men with tears in their eyes. Others turned their backs, didn’t want to see what was happening down on the pitch. Some people were going home; they couldn’t bear to watch. It was heartbreaking to see. If I had been younger maybe I would have cried too.
Then, the most wonderful thing happened: we scoredtwo goals within two minutes and we were winning 3-2! It was unreal, watching people ‘s mood changing so quickly and their faces lighting up, big grins everywhere. Soon afterwards the final whistle went and we had won. We were Champions! Nearly 50 thousand people were smiling and cheering and I was one ofthem. It was amazing, unforgettable. I think I smiled for over a week, Icouldn’t stop.
