“Mt. Everest is 8,848 meters high. All mountains in every continent have a ‘height limit’, but there is no limit for charity and social responsibility.” said Wang Shi, chairman of Vanke Co., Ltd. The concept that doing charitable work involves efforts made by everyone has gain popularity these days. I do believe that the wealthy ones should play a more vital part in providing assistance to those who are in need.

To begin with, the rich are supposed to contribute more to the society since they probably have received help from both individuals and the whole society. Getting rich is something that cannot be done at one           (猜词互动)requiring multiple factors including a helping hand and enlightening suggestion from others. While reaping the fruits of success, the rich should realize that it is time for them to pay back in order to pass on the kindness. Melinda Gates, the co-chair of the Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation, is a good example in case. As a woman who has been ranked 4th in the list of the 100 Most Powerful Women, born in a middle-class family, she did not have a smooth path straight to the success. When first entering the job market, she had difficulty finding a suitable job for herself. Then a manager she came across during an interview pointed her a direction by suggesting her to go to the Microsoft, which turned out to be the best decision in her life. With such help, Melinda Gates gradually became an outstanding woman in both career and life. As the wealth accumulates, instead of figuring out how to use the money on luxury goods, she began to realize that she had the influence and the ability to restore the equality in the society, in other words, to help those disadvantaged people in Africa and elsewhere. The social responsibility took the best of her, which made her found the charitable organization with her husband Bill Gates. It is her good intention and the echo with the poor that make her spare no efforts to offer aid to those suffering the poverty.

Moreover, the rich doing more charity is conducive to build themselves a healthy image in the society, which will in turn bring more benefits. By donating money to charitable foundations, the money givers will be exposed more and thus have more chance to leave a positive impression in the mind of the public. Therefore, people would be more likely to trust those who share their kindness, which is exclusively important to entrepreneurs and corporations. For instance, Cisco, a worldwide leader in IT and networking, once invested to establish a programming school in downtown for the young whose job was limited to only drug dealing. The new school enabled them to master how to write codes for network devices.

Many of them found IT related jobs, and during the working process they also purchased a number of Cisco products for their company. By this charitable move, only did the public form a positive opinion towards the company, which brought 10% extra profit for them, but also the young people involved were led to the right path. The win-win situation achieved by investing in charity can be the most convincing reason why the rich should contribute more to aiding the disadvantaged population.

In conclusion, giving more to the charities can be an effective way for the wealthy people to pay back the society and will also benefit themselves to a great extent. As a result, I firmly insist that rich men should make more contribution to release the financial burden of those who need help.
